Military parade on 20 May 2022 veterans in innovation mode

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, Head of State, Head of the Armed Forces has instructed the resumption of the organization of the civilian and military parade from the 50th Edition of the National Day throughout the national territory after a suspension of the said parade for two years.

This high decision of the Head of State was very well received by the Veterans; it offers them once again, the opportunity to demonstrate to all Cameroonians, their commitment to the national cause, their loyalty to the Nation and their attachment to the Republican Institutions and to the one who embodies them.

The said parade was indeed organized on May 20, 2022 throughout the National territory. In Yaoundé, it took place on the Boulevard du 20 Mai, under the effective presence of the Head of State, with whom the First Lady could be seen. The presidential couple was surrounded by the two Houses of Parliament, members of the Government, special guests of the Head of State, the Diplomatic Corps, the High Authorities of the Republic as well as the cream of the Defense and Security Forces.

In unison, the Veterans participated with great enthusiasm and pride in the golden anniversary of May 20 marked by a sober but successful military parade despite the relevance of the Corona virus. A particularly colorful parade in which took part a detachment of the Special Forces of the Army of the Republic of Congo Brazzaville and a strong sampling of the Cameroonian Defense and Security Forces.

In a perfect symbiosis, the marchers demonstrated their professionalism and their high military values. The veterans were dressed in their new "New look" uniform. This one is composed of a half-season jacket that is presented as follows: a midnight blue jacket with sleeve facing, a white shirt with black tie, charcoal gray pants with two gold stripes on the sides, a pair of low black shoes, black socks and a cap of the same color; all adorned with shoulder pads of ranks, collar facings, medals and pocket badges of the arms in which they served during their period of activity. Their passage drew the ovations of the public and the applause of the presidential couple visibly satisfied.

This new outfit, a real innovation and attraction of this fiftieth anniversary, made the media headlines of this parade to the great satisfaction of the veterans. Animated by a spirit of loyalty and dedication, they are giving a lesson of civic-mindedness and patriotism to the young generation in order to achieve the objectives of the theme of this 50th Edition, I quote "Defense and Security Forces at the service of the people for the preservation of social peace and national cohesion, pledge of Cameroon's emergence".

Very satisfied with the solicitude of the High Hierarchy, they salute the magnanimity of the High Command which once again shows its gratitude for the loyal services rendered to the Nation.

The show was beautiful; it was an unparalleled success; the organizers used their know-how and their creative genius to make this military parade a beautiful Unity Festival and a fine example of sub-regional integration.

The cohesion meal organized for the occasion by the Director General of ONACAM took place on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the House of the Combatant of Yaoundé in the presence of the Lieutenant General, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, surrounded by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense and General Officers under the animation of the Fanfare of the Veterans and the famous saxophonist Marius and his band.

A Bravo to the Veterans, Committed Combatants, Combatants for life!
