(Yaoundé, April 7, 2026)
The National Office of War Veterans, Exservimen and War Victims of Cameroon (ONACAM) hosted on Tuesday April 7, 2026, a major working session dedicated to an international partnership project led by Mr. Dorian Sensei NDOMBOL, a martial arts expert and collaborator with the Latvian Veterans Association.
Held in a warm, courteous, and open atmosphere, the meeting laid the groundwork for a strategic cooperation between the two parties, built around shared objectives aimed at strengthening ONACAM’s institutional capacities, improving the living conditions of its beneficiaries, and promoting the values of discipline, resilience, and leadership.
During the discussions, the Director General of ONACAM, Colonel (Rtd.) Alfred FULLER, emphasized the importance of this initiative in a context marked by growing challenges and limited resources. He highlighted the need for the institution to further open up to innovative partnerships, both nationally and internationally, in order to better meet the expectations of War Veterans, Exservicemen, War victims, and their families.
A key moment of the meeting was the live videoconference session held by the Director General with the President of the Latvian Veterans Association, who expressed strong support for the initiative. He commended the relevance of the project and conveyed his interest in establishing a structured collaboration with ONACAM, which he regards as a key institution in preserving memory and promoting patriotic values.
This convergence of views reinforces the shared determination of both parties to build a strong partnership focused on concrete, high-impact social actions. The envisaged areas of cooperation include intergenerational transmission of values, youth mentorship, development of sports and educational activities, as well as the implementation of innovative projects aimed at improving the well-being of veterans.
At the end of the meeting, the Director General praised the quality of the exchanges and reaffirmed the strategic importance of this cooperation project. He also encouraged continued discussions with the Latvian partners in order to identify concrete avenues for collaboration in the short and medium term.
This initiative fully aligns with ONACAM’s ongoing modernization and openness strategy, through which the institution seeks to strengthen the impact of its actions and promote a sustainable and innovative approach in service of the Cameroonian veteran community.
In the long term, this project could mark the beginning of an exemplary cooperation based on the sharing of experiences, international solidarity, and the recognition of men and women who have served their nation with honor, between Cameroon and Latvia.
A shared ambition : “to serve differently, to continue serving, beyond arms.”
